Damn Berry!

This film was created by a group of girls in our classroom. It was based on a drink called "Damn Berry". It showed a young girl being more energized & confident while playing her netball game, from the help of this product. 

This was one of the best films in our class and my personal favorite so I hope you enjoy this film. 

Maritime Museum

Today Room 11, Room 13 and Room 12 went to Maritime Museum. We were put into groups of 4 - 5 and I was lucky enough to have a the best group which was fulled with my friends and our amazing parent helper. Here are some photos

What's the shot?

In class we had to get into buddies or by yourself and watch a trailer of a movie that was given to us. The movie me and my partner picked was Beauty and The Beast. With this trailer we had to write down the different shots it had,what time it was filmed and the reason why the producers did that effect, the purpose of why they used it and why it was used.

How much sugar?

In class today our teacher put us into groups of 3-4. In this group we had 2 spoons, 8 zip lock bags, 8 photos of different drinks and the main ingredient which is sugar. With all of this we had to make a prediction of how much sugar was in each group.

Some of our school leaders went down to Room 6 and they did a little bit of a get to know you activity.

The teacher paired them up with a student and they had to write down some facts that their partner told them and also had to write a story about their buddy with all of their facts included.

Inquiry presentation

In class we had to create a presentation focusing around homelessness or bullying. I decided to go with homelessness and if the Tamaki housing project is one of the causes.

Play Based Learning

My thoughts on play based learning is alright. It can be enjoyable for a little bit but for me if it goes for to long it gets kind of boring. It would be fun if there would be more thing to create/play with.
I think the purpose for Play based learning is to build up kids imagination and for kids to create new things with the materials that we were given to use.

Next week I hope that we can bring more things to play/create with for the play based learning.
I think we can make play based learning better is to make more different areas and things to play with so kids can have more fun while we play.

The learning that I think play based learning includes is to mainly build up kids imagination and also for kids to have fun.

Upper body length!!

For the last week, our class has been learning about measurements. We had to get into our maths group and decide what we were going to measure and in our group of three we deiced to measure peoples upper body length.

Anzac Day

In class we were asked to create a google presentation about Anzac day. In our presentation we had to come up with 4-5 questions that relate to how the war started an interesting facts about the men who went to the war. Then when we were finished we had to create a video of our presentation.

what do you know about ANZAC day

 In class we had to create a document about things we know about Anzac day and things that we didn't know about it. In this document we had to do some research about Anzac that we wanted to learn about and to also hyper link the site we got our research from.

Bucket Fillers

In class today we read a story called Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud and Illustrated by David Messing. On the board our teacher wrote up a question saying How do you fill a bucket. My answer was Being positive around others to cheer them up (fill there bucket). Then our class had to create a google drawing or a drawing to Illustrate on how to fill a bucket.

FIRE & ACE

Today my class had to create a google drawing or a google slide to create a poster about our school values FIRE and ACE. We had to write down the meaning of what each letter meant.

That was summer!

Today for writing Miss Tupou assigned Room 11 to complete there summer poems. For our summer poems we had write about things that have happened to us in summer. My summer poem is finally completed, have a look at my AMAZING poem.

Technology has started!

Yr 7&8's Technology has just started for 2018! Our three classes are Metal, Graphics and Cooking. For my first rotation I am in Metal and right now I am creating my very own metal necklace which is the shape of a controller. Here are some images of our classes this year!

What makes a good leader brain storm

For writing today our class had to create a brain storm for a leader that inspires us! We then had to point out different reasons why we chose this particular leader. I chose Martin Luther King because he is a truly inspiring person and has helped out others in many ways! Here is my brainstorm about What a great leader looks like!

Toku pepha 2

In class today our teacher told our class to do a pepeha. A pepeha is a way to introduce yourself in a Maori way. In a pepeha we include our name, family, marae or church. Here is my pepeha of 2018.

Spaghetti and Marshmallow

For our first day of school our class did team building activities. For our activity we had to see who could create the tallest and most stable tower using those items. My group hadn't quite finished as our tower broke apart in the last minute. Anyways, we had a lot of fun doing it!

All About Me 2018

Annyeonghaseyo (안녕하세요) my name is Rikki Jo and This is me.

I am a year a 8 student attending Glen Taylor school, I am one of our schools student leaders.(sports captain) I am still in the same class room as last year which is room 11, and my teacher is Miss Tupou!!

The things I love to do at school is to play a lot of sports, learn lots of new things and to also hang with friends.

In my spare time I like to chill out, listen to music and sometimes go out with my family to watch movies, go to dinner,beach or simply go kick the ball around at the park.

My favourite subject would be reading & writing. I like reading because it increases my vocab and also because I like to read books that were made into movies and see the difference between them. I like writing because it builds up my imagination when writing interesting stories.

My goal this year is to get some awards on prize giving (sports awards) Make sure to always aim higher in learning but most of all enjoy my last year at GTS!!
